The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has recorded fresh defections from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and the Accord Party, as the party’s youth wing intensified grassroots mobilisation across Osun West Senatorial District ahead of the August 8, 2026, governorship election.
The door-to-door sensitisation and awareness campaign, which covered 10 local government areas, is aimed at consolidating support for the APC governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji.
The mobilisation exercise was led by the APC Senatorial Youth Leader for Osun West, Hon. Imran Majeed Adekunle, and was joined by a senatorial aspirant, Chief Peter Ogundejii, alongside local government party chairmen and other party leaders.
Speaking during the tour, Chief Ogundejii described Oyebamiji as a credible and people-oriented candidate, urging party members to sustain grassroots engagement and take ownership of the campaign. He commended the youth wing for initiating what he called a people-driven mobilisation strategy capable of strengthening the party’s base.
The engagement in Isokan Local Government witnessed the defection of several PDP and Accord Party members to the APC. The defectors cited renewed confidence in the leadership, vision and direction of the ruling party as reasons for their decision.
Ogundejii emphasised the crucial role of youths in determining electoral outcomes and called for collective efforts to secure overwhelming support for the APC in the 2026 governorship election. He described the mobilisation as a way of appreciating the confidence reposed in Osun West Senatorial District.
He also urged party members to intensify grassroots participation, register new members and encourage voter registration, stressing that sustained youth-led mobilisation would be central to the APC’s electoral success.
Following the tour, the APC leadership inaugurated Door-to-Door Campaign Committees across the 10 local government areas visited and offered prayers for the success of the party and its governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji.
