Former Big Brother Naija housemate Natasha Akide, popularly known as Tacha, has spoken out against false rape allegations, warning that they inflict lasting damage on genuine victims and public trust.
In a video posted on her Instagram page on Thursday, the reality star referenced a recent viral case involving a TikTok user, Mirabel, who admitted to fabricating a rape claim.
“Rape is a very serious issue. Women should never weaponise rape for any reason, because at the end of the day, you are taking away from the real victims,” Tacha said.
She argued that false accusations weaken the credibility of survivors and provide ammunition for those who seek to downplay or dismiss sexual assault claims.
“If any girl comes out to accuse a guy falsely of raping her, I honestly think she should be taught a lesson,” she stated, calling for accountability for deliberate false claims.
While acknowledging that mental health challenges may influence certain actions, Tacha maintained that consequences are necessary to underscore the gravity of such allegations.
I am not going to back down from the fact that women still do get raped. I am not going back down from the fact that there are real victims out there,” she added, reaffirming her support for survivors.
The reality star also highlighted the emotional and psychological toll false claims can have — not only on the accused but on society at large stressing that such actions “toy with your mental health” and complicate justice for genuine victims.
Her comments have since fueled conversations online about accountability, victim protection, and responsible advocacy in sensitive cases of sexual violence.
