Tinubu Hails NIPR’s Emergence as 2025 Global PR Body, Says Award Signals Nigeria’s Rising Influence

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) on its emergence as the 2025 Global Public Relations Association of the Year at the World Public Relations and Communication Award held in Lisbon, Portugal.

Describing the recognition as a landmark achievement, the President said the honour reflects Nigeria’s growing stature in strategic communication and public relations on the global stage.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu commended NIPR President and Chairman of Council, Ike Neliaku, as well as the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, for their leadership roles in securing the historic win.

The Institute clinched the award after a competitive process that featured 89 entries from 19 countries on February 19, 2026.

Tinubu praised Dr. Neliaku, Alhaji Idris, and public relations practitioners nationwide for their professionalism, vision, and dedication, describing the achievement as a strong endorsement of Nigeria’s expanding influence within the global communications ecosystem.

According to the President, the award underscores the impact of NIPR’s reforms and international engagements, supported by policy direction from the Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation.

He noted that the recognition positions Nigeria as a benchmark in ethical communication, public trust-building, and national reputation management.
Expressing optimism about the Institute’s future, Tinubu urged NIPR to sustain its commitment to excellence, innovation, and integrity in public relations practice.

The President reaffirmed his administration’s support for institutions that enhance Nigeria’s global image and contribute to national development through effective communication and stakeholder engagement.
