President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended warm congratulations to veteran journalist and publisher, Chief Shola Oshunkeye, as he marks his 70th birthday, describing him as a courageous voice in the pursuit of truth and a key figure in the advancement of journalism in Nigeria and across Africa.
In a statement released by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President commended Oshunkeyeās longstanding dedication to democratic values, highlighting his active role in the struggle for the restoration of democracy and the promotion of accountable governance in Nigeria.
A Fellow of the Nigerian Guild of Editors, Oshunkeye has built an illustrious media career spanning several decades, serving in prominent editorial and leadership positions across major media organisations. His roles have included Editor of Weekend Concord, Senior Associate Editor at TELL Magazine, General Editor at The Sun Group, Managing Director and Editor-in-Chief of The Sun Publishing Ghana Limited, and President/Chief Executive Officer of The Crest Online.
President Tinubu also praised Oshunkeyeās unwavering commitment to investigative journalism, noting that his work earned him continental recognition as the 2006 CNN/Multichoice African Journalist of the Year.
The President specifically referenced his acclaimed investigative report, Nigerās Graveyard of the Living, describing it as a powerful example of courageous, impact-driven journalism that exposed critical societal issues.
