Ahead of the 2026 governorship election in Ekiti State, House of Representatives aspirant under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Akomolafe Henrich, has declared support for the re-election of Governor Biodun Oyebanji and his deputy, Monisade Afuye.
Akomolafe made his position known during a strategic visit to the Ekiti Government House, where he commended the administration for what he described as “verifiable democratic dividends” delivered across the state.
According to him, the Oyebanji-led government has demonstrated people-centred leadership anchored on inclusive governance, stability and steady development.
He pointed to improvements in infrastructure, social investment programmes and security as evidence of purposeful governance.
The PDP chieftain highlighted ongoing road rehabilitation projects, reforms in the education sector, improved healthcare delivery and enhanced workers’ welfare as initiatives that have directly impacted residents.
He argued that the administration’s performance reflects accountability and continuity rather than political rhetoric, making a compelling case for a second term.
“Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji and his deputy, Mrs Monisade Afuye, have translated democracy into visible results for the people of Ekiti through good governance, inclusive policies and people-oriented development,” Akomolafe said.
He also praised Afuye’s grassroots engagement and community mobilisation efforts, noting that her involvement has strengthened policy implementation and ensured that women and vulnerable groups are not excluded from governance.
Reiterating his endorsement, Akomolafe urged Ekiti voters to renew the mandate of the Oyebanji-Afuye ticket in the 2026 election. He stressed that re-electing the administration would consolidate ongoing projects, preserve peace and accelerate economic growth in the state.
“Re-electing this administration in 2026 is not about politics but about continuity, stability and consolidating the democratic dividends that Ekiti people are already enjoying,” he added.
The endorsement comes as political alignments begin to take shape ahead of the 2026 Ekiti governorship contest, with calls for continuity and performance likely to dominate campaign narratives.
