Toluwanisings’ Burial Dispute: Kudirat Ogunro Speaks Against Burying Loved Ones at Home

ENTERTAINMENT October 27, 2026 0
Nollywood actress Kudirat Ogunro has criticised the practice of burying deceased relatives at home, describing it as an unwise decision that could create problems for surviving family members in the future. Her comments come amid the ongoing disagreement between the family of late Nigerian gospel singer Olayemi Bolaji, popularly known as Toluwanisings, and his widow over where he should be laid to rest. Reports indicate that Toluwanisings died on October 14, 2026, prompting widespread reactions from fans and members of the gospel music community, given his growing popularity and the impact of his ministry. The singer’s widow and family members have reportedly disagreed over his burial arrangements. While his wife prefers that he be buried in a cemetery or a church-owned burial ground, she has expressed discomfort with the idea of living in a house where her husband’s remains would be buried. However, the singer’s father had earlier stated in an interview that he preferred his son to be buried either at home or in their village, where the singer’s mother was also laid to rest. Reacting to the controversy in a post on her Instagram page, Ogunro argued that burying people in residential properties could create complications if the surviving family members decide to sell the house in the future. According to the actress, prospective buyers might be unwilling to purchase a property containing a burial site, while others might eventually resort to exhuming the remains. She wrote, “I said it last month, and I’ll say it again: burying people at home isn’t a good idea. What if the children grow up and decide to sell the house? Who wants to buy a house with a burial ground? “Yes, people may buy such properties and exhume the remains, but why create that problem in the first place? Personally, I don’t think it’s advisable. Just my opinion, though!” The actress maintained that burying deceased relatives at home could pose unnecessary challenges for their families later in life, stressing that her position was her personal opinion.
